CBS sweeps the competition

CBS finished the November sweeps with a commanding ratings victory, while NBC and ABC battled to a second-place tie.

Relying mostly on established programs like the No. 1 drama “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” CBS averaged 14.3 million viewers in prime time during sweeps, trailed by ABC and NBC (10.7 million apiece), according to preliminary data available Thursday from Nielsen Media Research. Fox placed a distant fourth, with 7 million.

As expected, CBS also won its first November sweeps in the closely watched young-adults category since 1980. ABC and NBC battled to a draw in that category as well.
