Lighted Boat Parade Loses Spirit, Goes Dark

The annual lighted boat parade on Lake Shasta has been canceled this holiday season, and perhaps for years to come.
The parade began eight years ago with 17 decorated boats and had grown to about 60 in recent years. But safety concerns and uncooperative boaters cost the event its holiday spirit, said Judi Bauer, one of the organizers.
