A federal jury has exonerated three Sacramento County sheriff’s officers who were accused of abusing their authority during a May 2002 traffic stop.
Three women filed the suit against the officers. They contended that Sgt. Gregory Johnson and deputies Heather Sullivan and David Leon used excessive force in a traffic stop.
The jurors returned their verdicts Monday afternoon. They rejected claims that the officers used excessive force, were liable for malicious prosecution and made false arrests.
