Putin and Fox Pledge Greater Cooperation

The presidents of Russia and Mexico pledged to increase trade and diplomatic cooperation between their geographically distant countries.
Making the first visit to Mexico by a Russian head of state, President Vladimir V. Putin met with his counterpart, Vicente Fox. Putin said his nation’s trade with Mexico is below what it should be, highlighting the potential for projects in the oil and gas sector, nuclear energy and Russian participation in building hydropower stations.
Mexican and Russian officials signed agreements on extradition, taxation, interbank cooperation and cultural affairs.
