Financing the War: No Walk in the Park

Re “Withering National Parks,” editorial, June 11:

My wife and I nearly choked on our cereal when we read in your editorial that our war in Iraq costs an estimated $93 million a day. That is some astronomical figure. Besides the national parks, Social Security could also go, Medicare could also go -- all the other great needs of this country could also go.

The $93-million-a-day figure should be a front-page headline in every newspaper in America every day to wake up the American public to the astronomical financial costs of our ill-chosen, life-draining, morally draining and financially draining war in Iraq.
