Exit: The San Francisco Opera Assn. said Thursday that general director Pamela Rosenberg has chosen not to renew her contract and would be leaving at the end of July 2006.

She said she wants to spend more time “bringing new works to the operatic stage.” The company said it would immediately begin searching for a successor.
