Since being claimed for $2,500 on Sept. 20, Proof Im Hi has been unbeatable. The 4-year-old gelded son of Jazzing Hi will try for his fifth consecutive win in tonight’s seventh, a $12,500 claimer at 400 yards.
Owned by Rene Ramirez and trained by Jesus Nunez, the California-bred defeated $2,500 claimers Nov. 21 in his first race for his new connections, returned about two months later to win against $4,000 opponents, then beat $5,000 claimers on March 18 before winning a starter allowance contest on March 18.
A winner in his only previous try at tonight’s distance, Proof Im Hi again will be ridden by Hector Cuevas in a field that includes Nora Gvl, Beating Thunder, That Giver, Ripped Fuel, Three Secrets Away and J M Larrys Legacy.
The picks: 1. Nefertiri. 2. Look Forward. 3. Blushing Blake. 4. Legal Thief. 5. This Dashing Chic. 6. Elyse Lane. 7. Proof Im Hi. 8. Metallic Lion. 9. Scoopmeup Willie.
Four! Nefertiri and Quick N Sweet in the first, all in the second, Blushing Blake in the third and Legal Thief and Serious Smoke in the fourth.
Shots in the dark: Cat Rush should improve with the experience of a race in the fifth. Dragon Dash makes debut for trainer Chuck Treece in the eighth after being claimed.
