3 Marines and 2 Soldiers Were Killed Monday, Military Says

In addition to the American troops killed Tuesday in the fight for Fallouja, Iraq, the military announced that three Marines and two soldiers had died Monday in other incidents.
The Marines were killed by hostile fire in Babil province, south of Baghdad, but no other details on the incident were released. They were identified as Cpl. Nathaniel T. Hammond, 24, of Tulsa, Okla.; Lance Cpl. Shane K. O’Donnell, 24, of DeForest, Wis.; and Lance Cpl. Branden P. Ramey, 22, of Boone, Ill.
The soldiers were killed by a car bomb that exploded near their convoy in Baghdad. They were identified as Staff Sgt. Clinton L. Wisdom, 39, of Atchison, Kan. and Spc. Don A. Clary, 21, of Troy, Kan.
More than 1,140 American service members have died since the war in Iraq began in March 2003.
