City Councilman’s Actions to Be Probed
The City Council has opened an investigation into one of its own members, embattled Councilman Terry Gregory.
The council approved hiring an investigator to look into allegations that Gregory pressured local businessmen and others into giving him free meals, baseball tickets and other gifts. The investigator will also look into a wrongful-termination suit filed last week by Gregory’s former chief of staff, Craig Mann.
A city task force on ethics will also decide whether Gregory’s actions were inappropriate and perhaps illegal, and whether he should face censure because of them. The Santa Clara County district attorney’s office is also probing the allegations.
