KCRW sets new date for annual show

KCRW-FM (89.9) has bumped its annual “Sounds Eclectic Evening” benefit concert from Nov. 20 to March 12, allowing headliner Coldplay to perform as a full band rather than the originally announced acoustic performance by quartet members Chris Martin and Jonny Buckland.
Officials at the Santa Monica-based public-radio station said “scheduling and logistical conflicts” forced the date change.
Most performers who had committed to the show will appear in March, except for the group Rilo Kiley and Everything but the Girl’s Ben Watt.
British singer-songwriter Matt Hales, a.k.a. Aqualung, has joined the lineup, and more acts will be added in the coming months, KCRW officials said Thursday.
The concert will still take place at Universal Amphitheatre. Along with Coldplay and Aqualung, the sold-out bill includes Cafe Tacuba, Paul Buchanan, Van Hunt, Nellie McKay, the Like and an after-show deejay set by Mark Farina.
Ticket holders who cannot attend on the new date may receive refunds through Ticketmaster, the station said.
