ExxonMobil Oil Corp. has paid the South Coast Air Quality Management District $8.25 million to settle air pollution violations at its Torrance and Terminal Island facilities, air quality officials announced Thursday.
The settlement, the third-largest in the history of the AQMD, stems from dozens of violations at both sites from 2001 to 2004.
Most citations were for improper inspection and maintenance of large tanks used to store gasoline and other petroleum products.
