‘Best Shot’ has seen better days

I find it hard to believe that the Travel section could be so insensitive as to show a photo of impoverished people begging for handouts [“In Panama, a Paddle-Up Greeting,” Best Shot, Aug. 29].
We all know that these things happen in the poorest countries, but do we have to advertise this to others? No wonder the rest of the world hates us. Who needs enemies when The Times illustrates our worst behavior for all to see?
Those in the Travel section who selected this “Best Shot” should be ashamed and take a remedial course in humanity and sensitivity.
