A man and his dog were found dead Monday after a fire ravaged the Anaheim apartment they shared.
About 11 a.m., firefighters in the 1200 block of Sharon Circle found the body of James Oneill, 55, on the downstairs kitchen floor, said Maria Sabol, a spokeswoman for the Anaheim Fire Department. They also found the body of a small dog near the front door.
“A lot of people were outside saying that somebody lived there,” Sabol said, “and when they [firefighters] went inside they did a preliminary search” that led to the bodies.
About 50 firefighters took just over 20 minutes to contain the fire in the 1,000-square-foot two-bedroom apartment, according to Sabol. Preliminary estimates indicated about $85,000 in damage to the structure and $25,000 to the apartment’s contents.
The cause is under investigation, Sabol said.
