Companies Press for Changes in Tax Code

A coalition of more than 400 U.S. companies and associations, including AT&T; Corp. and Pfizer Inc., urged President Bush to break a congressional deadlock on a bill to rewrite the corporate tax code.
In a letter, the group said it wanted Congress to pass before the Nov. 2 election a bill repealing an export tax credit ruled illegal by the World Trade Organization and replacing it with cuts in foreign and domestic taxes on companies.
