Long-Term Mortgage Rates Rise to 5.82%

Rates on 30-year, fixed-rate mortgages rose to a nationwide average of 5.82%, up from 5.77% last week, mortgage giant Freddie Mac reported.
Rates on 15-year, fixed-rate mortgages, a popular choice for refinancing a home mortgage, averaged 5.38%, up from 5.34% last week. This week’s rate was the highest since mid-April.
For one-year adjustable-rate mortgages, rates rose to 4.47% from last week’s 4.46%. This week’s rate was the highest since July 19, 2002, when it was 4.5%.
