Israel, Palestinians Negotiate Gaza Cleanup

Israeli and Palestinian officials agreed on how to dispose of rubble from the 21 Jewish settlements that are to be destroyed when Israel pulls out of the Gaza Strip, the Defense Ministry said.
Israel would destroy parts of the settlements and take rubble that includes dangerous materials, such as asbestos, and the Palestinians would knock down the rest.
The World Bank is to fund the Palestinian part of the demolition work. Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas was to decide today whether to accept the agreement.
