A day after shipping out their star, Joe Thornton, the last-place Bruins beat first-place Ottawa, 3-0, on Thursday night at Boston. The victory was delivered in part by Marco Sturm, who scored on his first shift after being acquired for the former Bruin captain.
Toronto 4, Atlanta 0 -- Mikael Tellqvist stopped 28 shots at Atlanta for his first shutout.
Calgary 3, Detroit 2 -- Tony Amonte scored a tiebreaking goal 19 seconds into the third period at Detroit.
Buffalo 3, Montreal 2 -- Brian Campbell scored 2:15 into overtime at Montreal.
Florida 3, Washington 2 -- Roberto Luongo stopped 36 shots for the Panthers at Sunrise, Fla.
New York Rangers 2, Pittsburgh 1 -- Marek Malik and Maxim Kondratiev scored for the Rangers at New York.
St. Louis 4, Columbus 1 -- Patrick Lalime stopped 25 shots at St. Louis.
Nashville 2, Minnesota 1 -- Adam Hall and Jerred Smithson scored for the Predators at Nashville.
Edmonton 5, Vancouver 3 -- Jarret Stoll scored two goals at Edmonton in the Oilers’ fourth victory in five games.

The Ducks activated goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere from injured reserve and sent goalie Michael Wall to the minors.
