Not his usual suave demeanor

Actor Omar Sharif, best known for his roles in “Dr. Zhivago” and “Lawrence of Arabia,” has been charged with misdemeanor battery stemming from an altercation he had last June with a Beverly Hills parking attendant, the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office confirmed Monday.
The incident occurred June 12 as the 73-year-old Sharif was leaving Mastro’s Steakhouse on North Canon Drive. According to a lawsuit filed in October against the actor by parking attendant Juan Anderson, Sharif became upset when his Porsche SUV was not waiting for him and demanded that the attendant locate the vehicle. The suit alleged that Sharif struck him in the face.
On Friday, prosecutors filed one count of simple battery against Sharif. A hearing is expected today in Beverly Hills Municipal Court, but the actor is not required to appear, according to a spokeswoman for the district attorney’s office.
