Robert E has one win in 14 starts at tracks not named Hollywood Park.
The 5-year-old Boston Harbor gelding has won three of seven in Inglewood and has been second three times.
The California bred will try for another victory, in today’s third, his first start for trainer and part owner Mike Mitchell. The $40,000 claimer at seven furlongs is the first leg of a pick six with a carry-over of $125,061. It’s also the first day of increased overnight purses in Inglewood. The track has raised purses for the rest of the meet, which ends Dec. 19, and the increase is retroactive to opening day (Nov. 9).
Winless in his three previous outings at Del Mar and Santa Anita, Robert E went wire to wire at Hollywood Park on Nov. 20, winning by 1 1/4 lengths at 7-1 against $32,000 claimers.
The field of six includes another recent Mitchell claim. Intelligent Male, who has won seven of 33, will make his debut for new connections after being taken for $25,000 out of a runner-up try Nov. 12 in his first start on the Hollywood Park main track.
Danthebluegrassman, Robs Coin, Kristine’s King and Tenth Street round out the lineup.
Race of the day: Admiralty Arch will try for his third consecutive win as he joins a new barn in today’s eighth at Aqueduct. Orlando Mojica will ride for trainer Scott Lake, who claimed the 5-year-old on Nov. 20 for $50,000 for a partnership that includes him and Bruce Golden, in the $50,000 optional claimer at a mile and 70 yards.
One for the road: Little Man Paputso makes his first start for trainer Tom Roberts and should appreciate the drop in class in today’s fifth at Golden Gate Fields. Kevin Krigger will ride the 2-year-old gelding for owner Alex Venneri in the $12,500 claimer for maidens at five furlongs.
Exotically speaking: A pick three using Emotion and Nosey Britches in the first; King Farouk and Cat On The Run in the second; and Intelligent Male, Robert E and Tenth Street in the third.
Winners: (previous day/meet total): 2/54. Money: (previous day/meet total): $16.20/$278.20. Total money bet: $304.
