Why give space to bloggers?

Millionaires giving awards to each other [the Oscars] is boring enough (and I’m in the movie business) without printing the meanderings of self-absorbed people of no discernible accomplishment [“The New Faces of the City,” by Scott Martelle, Dec. 1]. A blogger’s opinion carries the same weight as the scratchings on a stall at the Greyhound station.
It’s not about being in a particular demographic group. It’s about having a brain. We subscribe to read professional journalism. Those who have the time and inclination can seek out bloggers free. Please give the paying subscribers a break. And, by the way, what happened to the days when Calendar was focused on the arts?
