The prosecutor in the Phil Spector murder trial was named a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge Thursday.
The appointment of Deputy Dist. Atty. Douglas Sortino, a 46-year-old Democrat, continues Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s trend of reaching across party lines for judicial appointments.
Officials with the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office said they didn’t expect Sortino’s departure to delay the Spector trial, scheduled to begin April 24.
