From Times Wire Reports
The man accused of killing American nun Dorothy Stang told a Brazilian jury that he acted in self-defense because he thought she was getting a gun when she reached for her Bible.
Rayfran das Neves Sales is accused of shooting Stang, 73, six times Feb. 12 in the Amazon rain forest. His testimony contradicted earlier statements.
Prosecutors allege that rancher Vitalmiro Moura offered Sales and a co-defendant $25,000 to kill Stang, who was battling illegal logging.
