From Times Wire Reports
A jury convicted an Australian mechanic of murdering British backpacker Peter Falconio on an Outback highway in 2001, one of the country’s most sensational killings in recent years.
Bradley John Murdoch, 47, was given a mandatory life sentence. He also was convicted of assaulting and abducting Falconio’s girlfriend, Joanne Lees.
Murdoch was convicted even though police never found the 28-year-old Falconio’s body, a murder weapon or a clear motive. But DNA evidence linked Murdoch to the crime.
