Bruce Seaton, acting executive director of the Port of Los Angeles, submitted his letter of resignation Friday and plans to leave the post in January, port board President S. David Freeman said.
Seaton, a 35-year port veteran and former chief operations officer, was passed over for the permanent job when Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa announced Dec. 7 that he has selected Geraldine Knatz, Port of Long Beach managing director of development. She is expected to assume the executive director’s job in January.
Freeman commended Seaton, noting that the port has grown substantially during his time there, adding: “He’s a true public servant, in the best sense of the word.”
