Water Pipe Break Leads to Closure of Busy Road

A water pipe break forced the closure of a heavily traveled roadway between Hollywood and Studio City at the start of Wednesday’s evening commute.
The pipe rupture in the 3000 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard between Mulholland Drive and Ventura Boulevard also cut water service to as many as 40 nearby homes.
Officials could not estimate how long the cross-mountain roadway -- a shortcut for San Fernando Valley commuters to Hollywood, Mid-Wilshire and West Hollywood -- would be closed, but said it would not reopen for today’s morning rush.
