Re “Terrorists Strike in London,” July 8
As an American Muslim, I feel sad to hear of the events in London. The loss is not just that of the victims but of everybody. We have failed as a global community. I hope that the families of the victims recover quickly. I hope that all of us can make a better world where such acts do not recur against any race, religion or nationality.

It’s tragic that dozens were killed in the London bombings. But in Baghdad that’s a daily event. Note the difference in the coverage. I’m sure they notice in the Middle East.

I see that the Department of Homeland Security, citing concerns over copycat bombings, has raised the American fear level -- pardon me, alert level -- to orange. In London, Brits are calmly going back to work because, as one colleague put it, “The trains are running. Why not?”
