Lawmakers approved a motion to pardon a notorious anti-Syria warlord serving a life sentence.
Samir Geagea, former leader of the Christian militia Lebanese Forces, has been linked to the 1987 bombing of a military helicopter that killed pro-Syria Prime Minister Rashid Karami and to the 1990 slaying of Dani Chamoun, a prominent Christian politician.
Geagea, jailed since 1994, apparently was pardoned in the spirit of national reconciliation after Syria withdrew its forces from Lebanon this year.
