Ban Lifted, Canadian Cattle Enter U.S. Again

The first shipment of Canadian cattle rolled into the United States four days after a three-judge panel of the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ended a two-year ban originally instituted because of mad cow disease.
Thirty-five black Angus cattle crossed the border by truck after a brief inspection at Lewiston, near Niagara Falls.
“It’s been a long wait to get cattle to cross the line again,” Canadian shipper Wally Schaus said.
