An 18-year-old student threw a homemade bomb into a high school classroom in southern Japan, wounding 58 people when the gunpowder-filled jar exploded near the teacher’s desk and sprayed the room with glass, officials said.
Police arrested the suspect on assault charges and were questioning him. Police said the student had told them he “had a grudge against a student in the class,” the Kyodo News agency reported.
One boy was seriously injured with cuts to his legs and abdomen, and another broke a finger. The other injuries were minor.
