Councilman Reyes Fires His Office Manager

Councilman Ed Reyes said Tuesday that he has fired his office manager, Ruby de Vera, who last week finished third in the election to fill the vacant seat in neighboring Council District 14.
“I like Ruby, she’s a great person ... but it’s a personnel matter and I don’t want to get into any of the issues,” said Reyes, who supported winning candidate Jose Huizar.
De Vera said, “Maybe I put [Reyes] in an awkward position, but I ran because I had a passion for the community.”
