Council Asks That Its Landfill Rules Remain

As the county Regional Planning Commission considers a new permit for the Sunshine Canyon Landfill, the City Council voted Tuesday to request that conditions it has put on the dump be maintained.
Council members said those conditions, including limits on the tonnage that can be dumped in the city portion of the landfill and designation of the city as the site’s enforcement agency, would be undermined by proposed new conditions giving the county power to increase tonnage and sole enforcement powers.
