Regarding Kinky Friedman’s attempt to get on the ballot as an independent candidate in Texas (Opinion, Nov. 17), Robert McCrum says his main issue is “improving Texan education, which is in a parlous state.” Isn’t this the same sad education system that President Bush is trying to foist off on the rest of U.S.? You go, Kinky!
