Devils Hand Panthers 12th Straight Loss

The Florida Panthers lost their 12th straight game, shut down again by goalie Martin Brodeur in the New Jersey Devils’ 5-1 victory Wednesday night at Sunrise, Fla.
Colin White, Grant Marshall and Brian Gionta scored in a span of 1 minute 33 seconds in the first period for New Jersey.
Brodeur made 24 saves, improving to 30-8-7 against the Panthers in his career.
Detroit 7, Colorado 3 -- Mikael Samuelsson had two goals and two assists to lead the Red Wings over the Avalanche at Detroit. It was Detroit’s first game since defenseman Jiri Fischer collapsed on the bench Monday against Nashville. He was released from the hospital Wednesday.
Buffalo 4, New York Islanders 3 -- Ales Kotalik and Tim Connolly scored in a shootout to give the Sabres the victory at Uniondale, N.Y.
Boston 5, Toronto 1 -- Glen Murray scored twice at Toronto to help the Bruins end their six-game losing streak, the team’s longest since 1997.
Edmonton 4, Minnesota 3 -- Ethan Moreau scored with 50 seconds left at St. Paul, Minn., and the Oilers spoiled the return of Marian Gaborik to the Wild lineup.
Calgary 3, San Jose 2 -- Robyn Regehr scored the go-ahead goal in the third period at Calgary, Canada, and the Sharks lost their seventh in a row.
Tampa Bay 4, Washington 3 -- Dan Boyle scored twice at Washington and Vaclav Prospal’s shootout winner was the difference.
Nashville 4, Columbus 2 --Backup goalie Chris Mason made 35 saves to lead the Predators at Columbus, Ohio.
