Going through a natural growth phase

At the opening of “Blossom,” his exhibition running through Sept. 12 at the L.A. showroom Twentieth, Reza Feiz planted two rows of Iris photo prints in 6-foot-8 walnut frames ($1,275 each) that he says “are a spin on the usual hanging photo and reminded me of tree trunks.” The 36-year-old head of Phase Design, seated here in his cork-covered BBC chair ($2,300), became a furniture maker when he couldn’t afford the contemporary pieces he admired. With “Blossom” Feiz has truly bloomed. Cross-pollinating furniture and nature, his fiberglass Isabella tower (rear right, $410) “elevates plants and conceals those plastic containers they come in”; strategically placed cut-outs and containers turn his open cube tables (rear left, $340 to $720) into functional Modernist flower arrangements. Twentieth, 8057 Beverly Blvd., (323) 904-1200.
