Donations: Rappers Sean “Diddy” Combs and Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter said they will jointly donate $1 million to the Red Cross to help victims of Hurricane Katrina. Actress and singer Hilary Duff said she will be giving $250,000, divided between the Red Cross and USA Harvest.

Unusual pairing: The Counting Crows will perform at Walt Disney Concert Hall Oct. 25, backed by the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. Tickets go on sale Sept. 10.
