Death Toll Rises to 17 in Sumatra Landslide

The death toll from a landslide on Indonesia’s Sumatra island jumped to 17 after seven more bodies were found, an official said. Rescuers were searching for at least eight others believed buried alive.
Two days of torrential rains sparked the slide in the remote West Sumatran village of Lubuk Begalung before dawn on Friday, leveling six homes and destroying a cemetery, said an officer involved in the rescue effort.
