Red Sox Recover After an Off Night

Kevin Millar and David Ortiz homered as Boston’s bats recovered after a rare off night, and the Red Sox beat the Baltimore Orioles, 7-6, Saturday at Boston.
Matt Clement pitched eight strong innings for Boston, which won for the sixth time in seven games and maintained a 3 1/2 -game lead over the New York Yankees in the AL East.
Before Friday’s 7-3 loss, the Red Sox had scored seven or more runs in 14 consecutive home games, an AL record.
Clement (13-3) gave up four runs -- two earned -- and six hits.
Minnesota 3, Cleveland 2 -- Ninth-inning errors by third baseman Aaron Boone and pitcher Bobby Howry allowed Juan Castro to score the winning run for the Twins at Minneapolis.
Chicago 6, Detroit 2 -- Aaron Rowand and Jermaine Dye hit consecutive home runs at Chicago and the White Sox won their third straight game.
Texas 5, Kansas City 3 -- Juan Dominguez took a no-hit bid into the seventh inning to lead the Rangers at Kansas City, Mo.
Tampa Bay 3, Toronto 2 -- Travis Lee hit a go-ahead, two-run homer in the ninth inning to lift the Devil Rays at Toronto.
