Winnipeg’s Folklorama worth a visit

THANKS very much for the story on Winnipeg, Canada [“Loving the Big Empty of Manitoba,” Aug. 28]. As a native of Winnipeg who has been transplanted to Southern California, I feel your assessment of my hometown was outstanding. It was a reminder of the things we enjoyed most about Winnipeg and Manitoba.
If you ever return to Winnipeg in the summer, consider attending the annual festival called Folklorama (www.folklorama.ca/folklorama.php), which celebrates the city’s cultural diversity.
During two weeks in August, more than 40 pavilions are set up in various venues around the city.
