From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A photographer was sentenced to prison Thursday for trying to extort $3 million for topless pictures of superstar Cameron Diaz he had taken early in her career.
John Rutter was sentenced by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Michael E. Pastor to three years and eight months for perjury and attempted grand theft. The charges against Rutter, 42, stemmed from a daylong photo shoot in 1992 in an abandoned Los Angeles-area warehouse. Diaz, then a 19-year-old unknown, posed topless.
