Manchester Airport Shut Down in Security Scare
- Share via
Police used a stun gun to subdue a man who burst through a security perimeter at Manchester airport in northern England, causing a security scare that shut down the facility for more than two hours.
The man was carrying a briefcase, which was later blown up by bomb disposal experts in a controlled explosion, said Assistant Constable Steve Thomas. It contained clothes, papers and a passport.
Parts of two terminals were evacuated and passengers on outbound flights were told not to show up. Airport officials said the man did not get close to any of the aircraft.
