Inmates still in lockdown after weekend riot

More than 1,000 inmates remained under lockdown Monday at Chino state prison, two days after a riot that injured more than two dozen inmates, a prison official said.
Officials at the prison have identified and segregated 70 inmates believed to have played significant roles in Saturday’s 90-minute melee, said corrections Lt. Mark Hargrove, a prison spokesman.
Four of the 27 injured inmates remained hospitalized, Hargrove said.
The riot began when two inmates -- a Latino and an African American -- started fighting in a recreation yard, and others, watching from surrounding dormitories, joined in, dividing along racial lines.
