Inaugural’s donors

Re “No lack of donors for governor’s inaugural,” Dec. 30
In reading the article on special interest donations to the governor’s inaugural, I have to wonder how anyone expects us poor, lowly voters to believe that all that money isn’t buying any access or influence.
If -- as the governor’s spokesperson would have us believe -- those donors simply “agree with his vision for California,” then why do those same special interests give those same millions of dollars regardless of who’s in power? Who’s kidding whom?
It’s time to take the “for sale” sign off our government. What we need to “inaugurate” in California is nonpartisan public financing of campaigns.
