Vegas shows post closing notices

The curtain is coming down on two big Las Vegas shows -- but don’t worry, there is still plenty of time to get tickets.
The first one to go is Celine Dion’s concert extravaganza at Caesars Palace; it will close on Dec. 15 after a nearly five-year run. Producers say nearly 2.5 million people have seen Dion’s show since it opened in the Colosseum, a $95-million theater built and designed for the production.
The final year of the show will include new costumes and new numbers. In late January, “A New Day” will be filmed for a TV special and DVD, producers said.
Meanwhile, the Las Vegas production of “Mamma Mia!,” which led a wave of Broadway hits to migrate to the city’s glitzy strip of hotel-casinos, has announced its intention to close in the summer of 2008. The musical, featuring hits from 1970s supergroup ABBA, opened in February 2003 at the Mandalay Bay.
