Martin Brodeur made 28 saves for his NHL-leading seventh shutout of the season and Brian Gionta scored twice, lifting New Jersey to a 3-0 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Sunday at Montreal. Scott Gomez and Brian Rafalski each had two assists for the Devils, who have won three in a row.
“It’s huge. Things are so tight still,” Gionta said. “We’re just trying to gain some ground and we played two good teams, so to win back-to-back on the road is pretty good.”
Tampa Bay 3, Pittsburgh 2 -- Martin St. Louis put a backhander between Marc-Andre Fleury’s pads in a shootout, and the Lightning shook off a remarkable goal by Sidney Crosby while sliding on his stomach at Pittsburgh.
Ottawa 6, Philadelphia 1 -- Dany Heatley had two goals and an assist, and linemate Daniel Alfredsson added a goal and two assists at Ottawa.
Phoenix 4, Chicago 2 -- Jeremy Roenick had a goal and an assist at Chicago, and the Coyotes won their sixth straight.
