Fortunate Chinese

Re “Changing China: good try, but no sale,” Current, Jan. 7

If we could, why would we want to change China? Its economy is booming. Partisan bickering does not paralyze its government. Its democratically elected leader is competent and hardworking. It also does not wage war and maintain occupying military forces in other sovereign nations. I wish I could say the same for the United States. In my opinion, we should be trying to change us, not the Chinese.
