Liking Latinos

Re “White, but his heart is Latino,” Column One, Jan. 4
George Cole, I’m with you. I am white, and I happen to speak and understand Spanish. For four years, I lived and worked in and around the working-class, almost exclusively Latino city of Delano, in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley. I never experienced any racism from residents or co-workers. Those were four of the happiest years of my life.
