Symphony is getting big raises

As expected, musicians of the Pacific Symphony this week ratified a new contract that increases their salaries by 41.5% over the next five years.
The agreement, reached after weeks of negotiations that included the threat of the first strike in the Santa Ana-based orchestra’s 29-year history, was approved “by a landslide,” an orchestra spokeswoman said Wednesday.
