LAPD anxiety

Re “LAPD takes blame for park melee,” Oct. 10
Now that the whole city government, the mayor and chief of police have condemned the street police officers for what happened at the May Day rally, I kind of get a sick feeling. What we can expect at the next rally? I think the officers won’t do a thing if a problem arises. Why should they put their lives and careers on the line only to get beat up by the media and possibly indicted for some crime? When we have a mayor and a police chief who won’t rescind Special Order 40 to allow officers to find out who lives here legally, this is the kind of trouble you can expect.
