HP’s lead in PC market grows

Hewlett-Packard Co. widened its market-share lead over Dell Inc. in worldwide personal computer shipments in the third quarter and Dell returned to growth after several quarters of declines, research firm IDC reported.
Total PC shipments grew 15.5% worldwide in the quarter, IDC said.
Palo Alto-based HP shipped 19.6% of all PCs in the period, a one-third leap from the year-earlier period, IDC said in its quarterly market-share survey.
Round Rock, Texas-based Dell remained No. 2 with an estimated 15.2% of the market.
