Update: Despite the Oilers’ struggles this season, the Ducks haven’t had an easy time with them. When they met Dec. 7 at Edmonton, the Ducks blew a two-goal lead in the third period but pulled out a 3-2 win in the 10th round of a shootout. In the teams’ only other meeting this season, the Oilers took a 4-2 win Nov. 21 at the Honda Center despite 40 shots by the Ducks. In notable statistics, former Ducks defenseman Ryan Whitney, sent to Edmonton along with a sixth-round draft pick for defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky last March, is the Oilers’ top-scoring defenseman with two goals and 27 points. Visnovsky is the Ducks’ highest-scoring defenseman with eight goals and 36 points.
